A neck lift can take years off your appearance. It is a cosmetic surgical procedure and is often done at the same time as a facelift. During your neck lift in Lakeview, your surgeon will remove excess fat and skin in your jaw and neck areas, to give your neck a more youthful appearance. Here are some post-operative recovery instructions your surgeon may recommend after your procedure.
Wear Your Compression Garment
After your neck lift in Lakeview, your cosmetic surgeon will instruct you to wear a compression garment to decrease inflammation and improve your comfort level. Compression garments also redirect fluid back into your circulation so that it doesn’t pool in your jaw and neck tissue.
Without a compression garment, it may take longer for you to achieve your desired appearance because swelling will linger longer. You will need to wear your compression garment constantly for the first few weeks after your neck lift, however, it can be removed for bathing.
Don’t Neglect Incision Care
Proper incision care helps ensure optimal healing and reduces your risk of infection. Your surgeon will recommend that you avoid showering for a couple of days after your drainage tubes have been removed. You should also avoid sun exposure until your doctor tells you otherwise, and if you do need to go out into the sun, wear a sunblock product. Also, do not remove your bandages or steri-strips until seeing your doctor, and avoid washing your hair for a few days after your procedure.
